GRAIM is an association, based in Thiès with actions in different sectors: health, education, social communication, decentralization and economic cooperation, the economy, etc. GRAIM will assist any action benefiting the well being of communities, hence the importance mutual concordance. GRAIM acts all over the Thiès region, promoting and assisting mutual health funds. It campaigns for communities, community leaders, authorities, technical and financial partners to adhere to mutual health funds. Thanks to its lobbying, a regional network of 39 mutual health funds has been instated. In the sector of decentralization and decentralized cooperation, GRAIM acts with local communities to help them put in place management strategies for local development.
It acts as mediator and facilitator for dialogue, co-ordination and reconciliation among community members as well as between members of different communities. For the Fandène and Thiès communities, GRAIM helps with the implementation of governance and joint management tools focussed on the development process (elaborating plans of action, setting up co-ordination structures), with the monitoring of co-ordination and joint management practices in suburban areas and with the pooling of services.
