As part of the movement Disarmament to combat poverty, numerous Indian citizens held workshops, conferences and non-violent protests during the three days of the mobilization.
The highlight of this mobilization took place on the second day: after a hugely-attended sit-in in Mahatma Ghandi Square, participants marched to the doors of the Salon, where they stood silently, holding up billboards. Through this display, they demonstrated their appal at seeing a large part of the country’s wealth devoted to world arms dealing, and so little on social investments such as education and health.
