Passers-by are bewildered at first, but then get closer and play the game : they share their viewpoints and their thoughts, acquaint themselves with others’, and continue the discussion over a cup of tea, coffee or hot wine. Answers, whether sweet, bitter, or sometimes rough, are written down and posted on big panels in the street, prompting debate and exchange. Thus, Jeanne thinks that « it is absolutely different. [Men and women] are not made to live together. » Jaqueline, on the other hand, considers that « [we have to] break down these roles, these sections… leave everybody the opportunity to build all his or her potential ». Jean-Louis, along with Aragon, declares that « woman is the future of man ».
Alexandra Polleau, who took part in the workshop, tells us : « here again, we have ascertained that most anonymous people have a great need to express themselves and how much everybody relies on his or her own experience to forge their own views and convictions. Knowledge comes from here, too, it shapes our lifestyles, which result in our everyday life and in the way we apprehend and live in the world. This is why we put the emphasis on it. »
All of the testimonies have been exposed for ten days at the Palente House of Youth and Culture. This experience will help in planning the form and content of the Open University that supporters and sympathizers of Frères des Hommes intend to hold in Besançon in 2010.
