Senegal - Working with artisan woodworkers
« We must accept to question our certainties and this will drive us towards others. » Albane Counil flew away with this philosophy in mind to South Kivu, in D.R. Congo, in February 2010.
During a year and a half, she will be a volunteer for international solidarity with Frères des Hommes in Bukavu, South Kivu, with our partner Apef. A choice which reflects her wish to « live a prolonged experience in a southern country, to settle down, to adapt, to live and share another form of daily life ». (...)
François Guerry has returned to Africa. On September 3rd 2009, he set off for Senegal as a volunteer. After an initial two-year volunteer experience in Burkina Faso, and a training course in Senegal as part of his postgraduate degree in development project management in the South, he is now in Dakar to work with Frères des Hommes.

You can hear the chink of Iuna Rolland’s Indian bracelets wherever she goes. Upon finishing a degree in sociology in Rennes, 22 year-old Iuna spent six months travelling around India. Attracted by the “shimmering colours of the saris", she discovered a country that was as fascinating as it was suffocating, where the cultural divide required constant adaptation. “The number of people is overwhelming, the towns are noisy and beggars are everywhere”, she recalls.

A month has passed since my return from India…the time to relive the rich and intense experience that I had there has arrived.
In working with the Tamil Nadu team of Ekta Parishad in the district of Nagapattinam, the district most affected by the tsunami in 2004, I learnt a great deal about developmental field work. Ericka, soon you will be going to India for three years as a volunteer with Fedina. What will you be doing?
I am leaving on February 9, 2009 to work with Fedina on a project that has just started. It promotes fundamental rights and labour law among disadvantaged populations, dalits, women, rural workers, tribal populations.
