Minga, Nature et Progrès and Frères des Hommes have decided to participate in the 2010 regional election debates.

Appeal « Feed the regions »

Frères des Hommes has joined up with Minga, and Nature et Progrès, to launch an appeal « Feed the regions » in preparation for the regional election campaign. This appeal supports the right to a healthy balanced diet for all, agro-ecological land policies and youth employment.

The appeal « Feed the regions » serves as a reminder that food for everyone is a major challenge which concerns us all, a vital issue which calls for an immediate response. By emphasizing youth employment in the trades of agro-ecology and healthy eating habits, this appeal underlines the crucial issue, even more crucial in Southern countries, of halting the exodus of young people by giving them plots of land, securing the food supply to poor populations, and establishing the foundations of food sovereignty in all regions of the world.

In raising the question of land use in rural and urban areas, this appeal acknowledges the absolute necessity to preserve and enhance the potential of farming land on all continents, to feed humanity.

The association of local and international solidarity called for by this appeal is all the more useful in that its strategic focus is inspired by skills that local organisations of the South wish to share with their Northern counterparts

The globalization of solidarity movements is a means to harmonize local and international responses to the issues of land use, making this a strategy for the future of our planet.
