India - When women take over Parliament

Imagine a national parliament with only women? The National Alliance of Women, NAWO, has achieved just that. In New Delhi, 500 women met from 1st to 4th November 2009, to hold the first session of the Women’s Parliament. They came from all over India and from all walks of life. [In brief] Ivory Coast - Women at the heart of change

“Stop the racket !” About 500 women brandished this slogan in front of the Daloa Prefecture, Ivory Coast on 18 June, 2008. Women belonging to the Fédération pour le développement du secteur informel (Federation for the development of the informal sector) organised a sit-in in front of this symbol of state power to express their anger at the collective robbery organised by the those in power, who illegally tax travel and food production. Indonesia - Peasant women are struggling to bring back equality of the sexes
